Information

Buy Gold £5 Millennium

Crown This Gold £5 coin – also known as the Millennium Crown or Quintuple Sovereign – was released by the Royal Mint to mark the new millennium. The coin was issued in both 1999 and 2000, with the design being identical, differing only in the year on the reverse. You will receive a randomly selected example from one of the two years.

The design was created by renowned stamp designer Jeffrey Matthews, in collaboration with engraver Robert Evans. The obverse features a symbolic clock with the hand at 12 o’clock aligning precisely with the Greenwich Mean Time meridian line. This representation symbolises the transition to a new era and the opportunities that the 21st century holds for the United Kingdom.

Around the edge of the coin is a quote from Shakespeare’s The Tempest: “WHAT’S PAST IS PROLOGUE”. A powerful reference to the past as the foundation for the future.

The coin contains 39.94 grams of 22 carat gold, which is approximately 36.67 grams of pure gold. Please note: this coin is delivered without original presentation packaging or certificate of authenticity, but protected in a plastic capsule.

Investment score

This product has a B-label (Common bullion coins and bars). This means that it is a common coin or bar that is easily tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice. Examples of coins with a B-label are coins with a lower mintage.

Label information
Investment-score: A-label

Investment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.

Investment-score: B-label

Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.

Investment-score: C-label

Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
