Buying gold anonymously and paying cash

It is possible to buy gold and silver without creating an account with The Silver Mountain and without receiving an invoice with your name and address details. For orders up to EUR 10,000, you can place a “counter sale” with us. A counter sale means that you anonymously purchase your gold and silver at the counter and then pay cash or by PIN on the spot.
 
Counter sales need to be arranged by phone, where the price is determined at the time you place the order by phone. If the desired products are in stock, we can immediately make an appointment for picking up the order. If there is a lead time, we will note your phone number and call you as soon as the order can be picked up.
 
Anonymous gold purchases as counter sales are possible by appointment only. Since we do not keep inventory at our office locations, we need to process your order in the warehouse first. This typically takes a few working days. You can see which products are in stock on our website, and we can schedule an appointment for picking up your order over the phone.
 
The advantage of anonymously buying gold is that your name and address details are not disclosed anywhere. Your information is not included in our records and is not shared with third parties. Since you pick up your order yourself, there is no courier or other third party involved.
 
Anonymous purchases are possible for amounts up to EUR 10,000. This limit applies per person and per transaction. You can place a counter sale with us once per calendar month. If you come with multiple people, each person can engage in their own anonymous transaction up to EUR 10,000 per person.
 
For counter sales, we charge a 1% administration fee to cover the costs of processing and depositing cash. This surcharge is calculated based on the purchase value and is determined at the time you place the order.
 

How does anonymous gold buying work?

Step 1: Fix the price
You can place a counter sale by contacting us by phone. You can reach us at 035 20 313 80. If you indicate that you want to place a counter sale, we will ask you where you want to pick it up: in Baarn or in The Hague. Then we will check availability and the current price with you.
 
Over the phone, we record the products for you at the current price. This constitutes a binding agreement that cannot be changed or cancelled. Preferably, we will immediately schedule an appointment for picking up your order in the short term (within a week).
 
If there is a significant lead time, we may ask for a deposit from you. This is to cover our exchange rate risk.
 
Step 2: Scheduling an appointment for pickup
We then schedule an appointment with you to pick up your order. Your order is processed as a counter sale, meaning that no name and address details are listed on the invoice. However, we do need your name for our schedule, so we know who is picking up which order and when.
 
We are open on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and operate by appointment only. For your and our safety, we use camera surveillance and maintain a visitor register. You must bring an identification document (valid ID) for our visitor register.
 
Step 3: Picking up your counter sale
When picking up your order, please bring the cash amount with you and we request that you do this as accurately as possible. We cannot accept EUR 500 bills.
 
When you arrive, we ask you to wait in our waiting area. Meanwhile, your order will be prepared. We will ask you for identification for our visitor register. This register is separate from any purchases or sales, and we ask all visitors - regardless of the purpose of their visit - for identification.
 
Once your order is ready, you will be escorted to the reception area to complete the process. Here, your order will be handed over to you, and you can inspect its contents. Payment can be made in cash, and we will authenticate the banknotes using our currency counting machine. At the conclusion of the transaction, we will ask you to sign as confirmation of receipt, and we will also sign to confirm receipt of the cash payment.

Buying gold for larger amounts in cash

If you want to buy gold in cash for an amount higher than EUR 10,000, you can contact us to discuss the options. In such cases, a counter sale cannot be anonymous, and we must issue the invoice with your name and address details. We comply with the laws and regulations regarding the acceptance and processing of cash transactions.
 

Buying gold in cash and deliver the order

Sometimes we are asked if it is possible to pay in cash and then have an order shipped. For this, an appointment must be made to settle the payment at the office, after which the order will be shipped insured. Because this does not fit into our standard process, we choose not to offer this service. We only process cash payments when picking up the order ourselves, ensuring transparency for both parties.
 

Counter sale combined with PIN payment upon pickup

It is also possible to make an anonymous transaction by placing a counter sale with payment by PIN. Your name or address will not be listed on the invoice. Since you pay by PIN, there will be an outgoing transaction shown on your bank statement. Our bank account number will be displayed as "TSM" to make this as discreet as possible.
 
Please note that most banks have a PIN limit of EUR 2,500. For larger purchase amounts, you must increase your PIN limit in advance. In most cases, it takes four hours to process such a limit increase.
 

Anonymous gold selling

If you ever want to sell your gold back to us, it is not possible at the counter. Anonymous gold selling is not possible because we need to know the origin of the gold due to anti-money laundering regulations. This applies to all purchase transactions from EUR 250 and above, so in practice, this is always the case. This means that you cannot sell gold anonymously. When selling gold to us, you must always show your ID, and the purchase form is made out in your name - with your name and address processed into the system. Cash payouts for purchase transactions are possible up to EUR 10,000.
