The Lunar collector series from The Perth Mint is a popular collector series. This series, based on the Chinese zodiac calendar, consists of 12 animals. According to Chinese legend, each animal influences the personality of those born in the year of that animal. In the year 2023, the rabbit takes centre stage; according to legend, people born in this year are intelligent and creative.
Since 2020 - after the success of the first two series - The Perth Mint has started issuing the Lunar III series. Every year, a new coin is released, featuring one of the 12 animals from the Chinese zodiac.
Design silver Lunar set 2023 proof
The silver coins show two cute rabbits on the obverse. The rabbits are sitting in the grass and one of them is trying to eat berries from a branch. Ing Ing Jong's design is characterised by its many details. As a result, even the rabbits' fur is clearly visible. Next to the image of the rabbits, the Chinese sign for rabbit can be seen with also the text "RABBIT 2023". As with all The Perth Mint coins, there is also a small "p", the sign of The Perth Mint on the coin. The reverse of the coins features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The design is by Jody Clark and has been in use on all coins of The Perth Mint since 2015. The Queen's effigy is engraved in high relief and is highly detailed. The queen is depicted with a crown on her head and a stole around her shoulders. Around the effigy are the following text: "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA", "2023" and "1/2, 1 or 2 OZ 9999 SILVER".
Packaging
The three coins come in packaging specially designed for the Lunar 2023. The front of the packaging features a beautiful and detailed drawing based on the year of the rabbit and the end of the great Chinese race. With an edition of only 1,000 pieces, this set is a real must-have for collectors.

Investment score
This product has a C-label (Collectibles). This means it is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. We consider products with a C-label to be collectibles. These are often coins minted in limited quantities, with luxury packaging and a unique theme.
Label informationInvestment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.
Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.
Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
