This coin from the Australian Lunar Series III contains 2 troy ounces (62.206 grams) 99.99% fine silver. The coin depicts a dragon, the fifth animal of the Lunar Zodiac. The dragon bestows courage, ambition, intelligence and good fortune on those born in the years 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012 and 2024.An authentication feature in the form of a micro laser-engraved letter has been added on the coin to make it significantly more difficult to counterfeit. This micro laser-engraved letter is detectable under a magnifying glass.
Design of the 2 troy ounce silver Lunar coin
Obverse
Designed by Ing Jong, the obverse shows a Chinese mythical dragon. In the center of the coin is the Chinese inscription for the word "dragon." You can also see the inscriptions DRAGON - the name of the coin, 2024 - the year of issue and the special mint mark P125 which was added to celebrate the 125th anniversary of The Perth Mint.
Reverse
The reverse side shows the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial design, designed by Jody Clark. Around it you will see the inscriptions ELIZABETH II - the Queen's name, 1952 - 2022 - the years of her reign, AUSTRALIA - the country of issue, 2 DOLLARS - the face value of the coin in the country of issue and 2oz 9999 Ag - the weight, purity and metal type.
