The Perth Mint has been issuing its famous koala series for a number of years, each year a new coin is released with an updated design starring koalas. The silver Koala 2023 coin features an adorable design of a koala with her cub. This 1 troy ounce silver coin - 31,103 grams - is struck in 99,99% pure silver and has a maximum circulation of 300.000 pieces worldwide. The coin comes in a plastic coin capsule and has a diameter of 40,99 mm.The koala is one of the well-known animals of the beautiful Australian wilderness. The koala is known for its cute appearance and lives often high up in (eucalyptus)trees. The koala is therefore often depicted in a tree in this animal series.
Security sign against forgery
This coin also has a special security sign added in the form of a small micro lasered letter that is only visible under a magnifying glass. This makes the coin more difficult to counterfeit.
Design of the silver koala 2023
A new design featuring two koalas can be found on the obverse of the silver Koala 2023: a koala carefully climbs up a tree, while her cub, a 'joey', clings tightly to her back. Several inscriptions can also be found, such as the word KOALA cleary a the top of the coin, the silver content 1 oz 9999 SILVER and the year of issue 2023.The reverse of the 1 troy ounce collector coin features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This special portrait commemorating the late monarch her long reign. For instance, her name and reign period are written on the coin: ELIZABETH II 1952 - 2022. The face value of the coin 1 DOLLAR and the country of origin AUSTRALIA can also be found on the side of the coin.
