The chief engravers of each coin, Gordon Summers and Joseph Menna, have collaborated for the first time to create a joint coin design. The design of this series depicts Lady Britannia and Lady Liberty as equally prominent figures. These figures represent determination and freedom, virtues that underpin the national identities of both the United Kingdom and the United States.
Design of the Britannia and Liberty coin
Obverse
The obverse of the coin shows Lady Britannia and Lady Liberty. Both are depicted in a unique way. For example, Lady Britannia with wavy hair and Lady Liberty with no ethical background is on the coin. Around them are the inscriptions BRITANNIA AND LIBERTY - the name of the coin, 1OZ 999 FINE SILVER - the weight and grade of the silver and 2024 - the year of issue.
Reverse
The reverse shows the effigy of King Charles III. Around it are the inscriptions 2 POUNDS - the face value of the coin in the country of origin, CHARLES III - the name of the king of the United Kingdom and D. G. REX F. D. - the Latin abbreviation that stands for "in God's grace, king."
Lady Britannia and Lady Liberty
In addition to the unique collaboration, the design is also distinctive. Lady Britannia's wavy hair is intentionally depicted to reflect her historical connection to the sea. She is depicted with her iconic trident. Noticeable is the symmetry in the torch and the trident, which unites the elements of fire and water and contributes to the duality of the design, as stated by Gordon Summers, The Royal Mint’s Chief Engraver.Joseph Menna, Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, notes that Lady Liberty on the coin symbolizes opportunities. This represents the many people who came to America from immigrant ships from Europe. Lady Liberty is not depicted on the coin from a specific ethnic origin, making her emblematic of America as a whole.

Investment score
This product has a B-label (Common bullion coins and bars). This means that it is a common coin or bar that is easily tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice. Examples of coins with a B-label are coins with a lower mintage.
Label informationInvestment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.
Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.
Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
