In Chinese mythology, the dragon is a majestic beast that lives in rivers, lakes, oceans and the sky. The koi fish is a symbol of happiness and longevity in Chinese culture. The dragon has a blue and green coloring and the koi fish a red one.
The coin has a diameter of 40.9 mm, a face value of 1 dollar backed by the Australian government and a limited mintage of 4,000 pieces.
Design of the silver green Dragon & Koi coin
Obverse
The obverse shows a fire-breathing dragon together with a koi fish. The dragon has a blue/green coloring and the koi fish a red one. Also on the obverse are the inscriptions P – the mint mark of The Perth Mint and WR – the initials of the coin designer Wade Robinson.
Reverse
The reverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. All around are the inscriptions AUSTRALIA 2023 - the country and year of issue, 1 DOLLAR - the face value of the coin, 1oz 9999 Ag - the weight and purity of the coin, ELIZABETH II - the Queen's name and 1952 - 2022 – the years of her regime. Finally, you will see the inscription JC – the initials of the coin designer Jody Clark.
