Information
Silver Britannia coins from previous years
The silver Britannia coin is a popular investment coin from the United Kingdom and has been issued by the Royal Mint since 1987. These silver coins were introduced as a counterpart to the gold Britannia coins. Originally, the silver Britannia coins were struck in a purity of 95.8% silver. However, since 2013, the coins have a higher purity, namely 99.9% pure silver. The silver Britannia coins from previous years are generally cheaper than the newly minted coins, while the weight and content are the same. We buy these coins from individuals and can therefore offer them at a reduced rate. As a result, people receive comparatively more silver for their money. All the silver Britannia coins we sell are checked for authenticity, weight and content.

Obverse
The obverse of the coin depicts Lady Britannia with the new security features. Around her are various inscriptions, such as the name of the coin, the year of issue, the weight of the coin and silver content.
Reverse
The back features a beautiful effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This effigy was designed by Jody Clark. The sovereign's name and face value can also be found on this side.
Additions of security features
As mentioned earlier, 4 security features have been added to the Britannia coin to make it incredibly difficult for other parties to replicate it.These features are:
- Latent feature: a hologram effect where the padlock turns into a trident when viewed from a different angle.
- Surface animation: By means of special laser engravings micro-details created on the coin give the visual effect that the waves are in motion.
- Micro-text: the inscription DECUS ET TUTAMEN, in English "an ornament and a safeguard", around the Britannia image was created by means of special lasers.
- Tincture lines: a traditional art form in which colors and patterns are depicted on metal.

This product has an A-label (Our top 100 products). This means that it is one of our most common products. An A-label means this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.
Label informationInvestment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.
Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.
Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
