Obverse
The obverse of each Gold Kangaroo coin features one or more beautifully rendered kangaroos, with a new, unique design taking centre stage each year. Carefully designed by The Perth Mint, this artwork pays homage to Australia’s iconic animal. In addition to the impressive image, this side also features the inscriptions AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO, the year of mintage, the gold content indicated as 1/2 oz 9999 GOLD, and The Perth Mint’s signature P, as a guarantee of authenticity and quality.

Reverse
The reverse of this unique gold Kangaroo coin features a meticulously designed portrait of the British monarch. For coins minted up to and including 2023, this is Queen Elizabeth II, expertly created by Jody Clark, with the high level of detail in her hair being particularly notable. For coins minted from 2024 onwards, this may be the portrait of King Charles III. Engraved around the portrait are the name of the monarch, the issuing country AUSTRALIA, and the face value of the coin, 50 DOLLARS.
Investment coin with changing design
What makes the gold Kangaroo coins unique compared to other well-known gold investment coins is the annually changing design. While most investment coins retain the same design every year, The Perth Mint consciously chooses to introduce a new, carefully designed coin every year. The kangaroo, the iconic animal of Australia, plays the leading role in each design. This special animal, which is almost exclusively found in Australia, is a powerful symbol of the unique and untouched Australian nature. This annual renewal makes the gold Kangaroo coins not only an interesting investment, but also a valuable collector's item.

Investment score
This product has an A-label (Our top 100 products). This means that it is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we recommend looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label means this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.
Label informationInvestment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.
Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.
Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
