Information

1/10 troy ounce gold Krugerrand coin 2024 proof

The 1/10 troy ounce gold Krugerrand coin is minted by the South African mint in proof quality. This is the highest quality possible, on these coins several techniques are applied to improve the quality of the coin.

The Krugerrand has a rich history, this coin type was first issued in 1967, making it the first coin to be widely traded purely for its gold value. The coin is minted in 22 carat (91.67%) and has a gross weight of 3.393 grams. The coin contains a total of exactly 1/10 troy ounce (3.11 grams) of pure gold. The reason the coin is struck in a higher weight is to ensure more strength than if it were struck in pure gold only. This is because gold is itself a rather fragile type of metal and therefore quickly gets scratches, something that is not likely to occur with the Krugerrand.

This 1/10 troy ounce gold Krugerrand in proof quality comes in a presentation box along with the certificate of authenticity. There are 2.000 coins made worldwide.

Design of the 1/10 oz gold proof Krugerrand

The obverse of the coin features a springbok, the national coat of arms of South Africa. Around it are the inscriptions KRUGERRAND - the name of the coin, 2024 - the year of issue and FYNGOUD 1/10 OZ FINE GOLD - the metal type and weight of the coin.

The reverse shows the effigy of Paul Kruger, the former president of South Africa from 1883 to 1900. Around it are the inscriptions SUID-AFRIKA and SOUTH AFRICA - the country of origin.

Investment score

This product has a C-label (Collectibles). This means it is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. We consider products with a C-label to be collectibles. These are often coins minted in limited quantities, with luxury packaging and a unique theme.

Label information
Investment-score: A-label

Investment score: An A-label means that this is one of our most common products. When purchasing physical precious metals, we advise looking at both the lowest price per gram and the lowest spread. The spread indicates the difference between the buying and selling price. An A-label signifies that this is a favorable choice when buying gold and silver.

Investment-score: B-label

Investment score: A B-label means that this is a common coin or bar, which is widely tradable worldwide. However, a product with this label is more expensive than a product with an A-label, so as an investment in physical gold and silver, this product is not the most cost-effective choice.

Investment-score: C-label

Investment score: A C-label means that this is a less favorable investment choice compared to a product with a higher investment score. Products with a C-label are considered collectibles.
